OT - Mice eating tomatoes

Anybody ever had a problem with mice climbing tomato plants and eating tomatoes. My Brother has this problem now and never has had this problem before??

my sunflower seeded, 5 gallon water bucket chipmunk traps catch as many mice as chipmunks.
Smaller bucket would probably catch more mice.

I catch the odd mouse in water buckets partially filled with water and food bits that I don't want down the drain -- it sits by my shop sink.

I've always wondered how to make it more effective, because this happened only by accident.

How do I make such a sunflower seed trap?

Thanks,
Terry

The mice only happen downstairs in my large shop and the neighborhood cats don't have an open door. I see a white and a tabby in my driveway fairly often.

Terry,
They are just a plain ol 5 gallon pail, filled with a few inches of water.
Throw sunflower seeds still in their shell on the water (they float)
prop a stick or board against it so they can climb up and jump in.
A few leaves with the seeds will make the water surface look solid, in case you get some smart ones.

You can also make them fancy with a rod and spinning pop/beer can across the top with some peanut butter in the center of the can. can spins, down they go. This one seems to work better on mice.

No, no cats-cats wouldn't last long with his English bulldogs--if it was me, I wouldn;t have the dogs(just something to feed) and I'd get a cat or two......then I could have cat tracks all over my vehicles all the time...

thanks!

I like the rolling beer can on a wooden dowel idea. :)

I was previously toying with the idea of making like a diving board teeter-totter on the edge of the bucket, with peanut butter out on the end . . . but I think the beer can might work better.
