Oh Boy !! New TSC

There was a new building being built in Hemet. It was a pretty big building and I wondered what would be going in there.

I drove by it today and "Hallelujah" the big sign said TSC. The last place we had was an International Harvester dealer and that's been gone for 25 years.

I couldn't believe it when I saw a brand new TSC going in there. I used to have to get everything tractor related that I needed on the net. Don't know how much stuff they'll have for an 8N but it's better than nothing.

Well, we have a Home Depot and a Lowes and now a TSC. Now all we need is a good local gun store. The closest place is the "Shootist" in Murietta, about a half hour drive for me.

The local TSC got blow away by a tornado 5/11... I would have bet my arse they would not build it back... Go thang I don't gamble... I rarely go in it... I do use them to price match gear oil with my local supplier and anything they have Lowe's has...

We have two TSCs in Topeka and they carry a few N parts. China points and condensors, lift arm parts, mufflers and a few others.

They have a pretty good paint and hardware sections, also a good feed and ag chemical supply. One of them is close to me and I check them out pretty regular.

They also carry parts for my finish mower.

Hemet ? California ?
My mother was born on a dairy farm there and after a long time on the East coast passed away in Hemet maybe 15 years ago. Spent a fair amount of time there visiting. Gotta say it seemed so dry I don't know what you would do with an 'N there.

I use a brush hog to control weeds and brush on my 5 acres and use the rollover box blade and FEL to maintain the dirt roads leading to my place. Not everyone is a farmer.

TSC's going up all over the place here in AZ. New one in a town 45 miles away had bird seed priced at $5.99 for a 35# bag. Was going there anyway so we picked up 4 sacks. Got to looking at hand tools. Guess what? MADE IN CHINA!

The rural TSC's are not bad, the ones in-town not so good..JMHO

We have one close to us (Alton, IL). It's the store of last resort, as their prices are 20-30% higher than anyone else.

Around here, TSC is good for hydraulic fluid, chicken feed & shirts. N parts are overpriced Chinese junk. W/ the exception of there sediment bowl gasket & screen.

new went up here closer to me than the old one.
pick and choose your stuff and TSC can't be beat,
for a homebrew'r, farmerizer, hack.
oil, filters, plugs, belts, pins, bolts by the pound, and on and on.
(no, I don't buy tune up parts there)

A huge plus for me is they are one of the few places
that will take pretty much all used oils. ( even very foul gear oil)
Auto stores are getting picky, engine oil only and it can't be 'contaminated' If the dang stuff was clean I wouldn't be changing it.....
Just got in a row with an auto store after buying 3 pails of gear oil and they wouldn't take the old. Won't take it, they shouldn't be able to sell it, in this nanny state.

I rebuilt an 8n from the TSC catalog must have been 30 years
ago. Valve kit, sleeves, everything. All solid American-made parts
- they even had a sleeve installation kit. That was when they had
just a few stores, and a mail-order catalog.

They seem to have found a business plan that works for them
today, but it's sad they had to drop the "Tractor" in all but
name.

Odd how when I first got into tractors I used to wish there was a
TSC store near me, but as they built them closer and closer to me
they seemed to have less and less that I needed.

I told the manager of the one near my house they needed to change the slogan...Change the word "All" to "None"...

i.e. "None of the stuff you need out there!"

I live within 23 miles of 3 TSC and a Atwoods farm center. I think they are geared more for the Yuppies than ole farmboys. We do have a auto supply store that does cater to the 8N and the folks there know how to use a parts catalog. Imagine that!! I do love Palace Auto Supply

I just went online to TSC's site. I couldn't find anything for tractors. Even under brand names all they had was makers of hand held power tools like weed eaters and chain saws.

They had a few pto things listed but only generic stuff. Doesn't look to good for anyone that actually owns a tractor. I hope this new store is not as disappointing as their website.

Maybe when I go in there, I'll ask them a few questions about 8N's. Questions I already know the answers to just to see if they actually know anything about tractors.

we got 2 both are 70 miles away 1 way, which isnt bad for out here they have 2 rows of tractor stuff and another with stuff like pto shafts, pins ect

we are getting one here in the heart of yuppieville. 1/2 mile from my house. next nearest one is 18 miles away. TSC like wal mart stock their stores in accordance with where they are located. the TSC and WM near our place in upstate PA is much different than the ones close to us. upstate is three hours NW of here.

Get a list together for their 10% off grand opening sale. After that they won't have half of their stock. As Bruce VA said the tractor parts are junk. I bought a barn door track on their opening sale, it has been OK.
