Went about to replace the right-hand side, front tie rod end. Previous owner had WELDED the nut to the stud, and the rod end to the tube. I managed to get everything loose but the tie rod end was screwed in all the way into the drag link tube and is barely budging with some heavy breaker bars/pipe wrenches/heat.
Tractor is a '51 8N with a Wagner loader. Looks like some home-made adapters on the front wheel spindle pitmans to bring the drag links in to clear the FEL tubes.
Here's the problem: I removed the right-side drag link and clamped the tie-rod end in a large vise, proceeded to crank the tube while applying heat. It hasn't broken, but I can tell that it will if I keep going. Soaking it in kerosene until I can figure out what to do.
Both of my front drag link tubes (just the tubes) measure 28.5" end-to-end. Where can I find one?! I don't know if these were special for the Wagner, or early '51 or late '51. One side does measure about 2" longer due to the longer arm on one side of the steering box.
Any info = greatly appreciated.
Pete
