Is There a better Switch

I'm looking for a better quality ignition swicth for the 8N3679C. They all seem to be the same mfg that one TSC sells. I've had two now if you wiggle the key the engine stalls.

Has anybody seen anything better?

I got 2 from nnalert's; they work fine.

I've got a big-honking 3 position switch that came on one of my N's 16 years ago that would probably handle 40 amps!

I've recently bought 2 OEM type ignition switches from Dennis Carpenter. They are not visually identical to the commonly available, low quality aftermarket switches but I have, of course, yet to look inside.

I've installed one in my 64 4000 SOS and the other in my 52 8N.

Time will tell.

I have a similar Echlin/NAPA key switch on my 51 8N. It was on it when my Father bought it in 1974 and still works well.

There's got to be something better, made for marine or motorcycle purposes, where it is assumed the switch will get wet.

Only thing is, to get a decent all brass marine switch can cost $50 or so. I've seen the not-quite-right "Ford" switch on ebay for as little a $8 shipped. For that difference a lot of us seem to be happy just wiggling the key a bit when they start the tractor.

Got any old cars or trucks lying about that had push button start like 47 to 54 Chevs? Find one of these simple off/on switches that still has a key and use one of them. I have a few of them from old Chev trucks I took apart.

Just a suggestion.

P.S.
The penetrant I use (Amsoil MP) doesn't conduct electricity and protects against moisture. I spray a little into old key slots as routine maintenance. Unlike all other such fluids, it NEVER gets gummy from oxidation and leaves a light dry, durable film once the wet carrier evaporates. I would never in a million years, spray something like useless WD40 into a lock mechanism. It turns to glue within 6 months!

You have just eliminated the troublesome OEM style switch :D
If its 12V with a GM alt you can excite the alt with that switch and eliminate that that issue also...
