Frozen lift

Was mowing this week and half way through the job and my lift froze about a quarter of the way up. The arms won't go up or down. It has a new cover gasket, safety valve, piston, steel rings, cylinder and cam pin (the one that wears out). There is play in the friction disc area and I need to try and sink the aluminum quadrant plate closer to the lift cover. However during the reconstruction of the lift a huge wolf spider (about two inches long) jumped into the inspection hole and into the pump area and was quickly submerged in the hydraulic fluid. I was able to fish him out after some time only to find out he was missing a few legs. Could it be possible that the pump is clogged? The lift worked for about 30 minutes after the incident and here I am. I know this is about the 6th time I've come out for help, but I feel I should be good for a while. Thank again!!

I don't know if you could be stopped up or not, but I don't think a few spider legs would have anything to do with your problem.

More than likely the control valve at the pump is stuck... Try and manually work it thru the right inspection hole with a bar to free it up... You will know if it stuck... If its stuck and you free it up you may get lucky and it never sticks again BTDT... This is one reason I am so passionate about driving the bushing out the control valve operates in and get'n all the dirt out that's trapped in the circuit behind it....

Thanks Hobo! I'll check the safety valve out and see if that's the culprit. For some reason when I get one thing fixed and another thing pops up that needs repair I kinda look forward to it. Guess that's a good thing!
