No power at takeoff

Wondered if u guys could help me diagnose. 52 8n and tractor runs smooth, and seems to bush hog great. Fluid levels appear fine. But when I take off, I swear I could stand in front of it and keep it from moving. Had bush hog on ground and the tractor kept running but would not budge even when clutch was all the way out. When I take off with bush hog I have to make sure it"s in short grass or it will not move (unless I disengage pto) what might be the simple solution/ problem? Is it a clutch problem, hydrolics???

Time to get a FO-4 and check the clutch adjustment. Sounds to me like the clutch is slipping. If it was just because of trying to start in tall grass, it would kill the engine. Any time the clutch is all the way up and the tractor is not moving, the clutch is slipping. Check adjustment but be prepared to split the tractor and replace the clutch.

I have the manual and will check it out. Didn't know it would
continue to run though. Adjustment sounds ok, splitting
tractor does not!!! Is there anything else that might cause
this problem?

if you let the clutch out, and the engine does not stall, and the tracgtor does not move, and you don't want to hear that the clutch is slipping, then how about a space ship with a tractgor beam holding you in place? that one better for ya?

The other rare options would be a broke axle that is barely catching.. stripped hub barely catching, etc.. that stuff.

if the clutch is the weak part.. then you can probably drop the mower into tall grass, hit clutch, engage pto, let clutch out and keep mower from spinning as well.

that's the test for the clutch.

if the mower has full power but drivetrain does not.. then clutch is ok..and the problem then lies from output portion of the trans back

Are you noticing an oil drip from bell housing where cotter key is supposed to be? If no cotter key, there is a drip hole that may be clogged and engine/trans oil has leaked to a level to cause the clutch to slip. Look at the drain hole see what's happening.
