just bought a late steering box for my 48 8n that was all rebuilt and ready to install for $550.oo. I got it all hooked uped with the front tires in the air it turns freely with no noise but with the front end on the ground it turns hard and there is a popping noise coming from the gear box. There is a 1yr warranty on it. Any ideas whats making the noise or anyone know of a place where i can purchase a rebuilt one if i take this one back. THANKS

Send it back to the fellow you bought it from. It should turn freely and easily. Truthfully, you spent that much on a steering box, and he has warrantied it, he should work with you.
If you don't have I&T FO-4 manual, you should get one. It has a good write up for adjustment and repair in it.
