zerk fittings

I have a broken zerk fitting on 8n steering rod, what size bit to drill out, my bits are dull and cant drill it, do they have a self tapping zerk to thread into broken zerk? thanks to bruce I thing I adjuste steerint and took out lots of slop although it it a little hard to turn at very end both left and right

Not seeing exactly what you are but I suggest a small easy out if you have a bit of a hole. If that doesn't fly then try the sharp corner of a chisel at the extreme edge and striking it with a small hammer so as to rotate it counterclockwise.
Once you have a bit of a notch from the chisel, then use a small tipped punch in the notch and continue to try and get it moving counterclockwise.

For the most counter-clock force, you lay the punch down as far as possible without it jumping out of the notch when you strike it.

Sometimes a center punch at the edge works well.

It's like kung fu . . . put all your focus on the point you want to move counterclockwise and use follow through. :)

Bob,
Jack the front wheels off the ground and turn the steering wheel full left to right and back,

If you have drag near the end of the turns you may have the gears too tight.

It's much better to live with a little steering slop than to bust the steering gears or steering gearbox.

Just be careful, it is very easy to get these gears too tight.

you can get a T shaped tool that has zerk wrench, extractor and thread chaser.

you can also use regualr exractors, left drill bits.. and in many cases.. small screwdrivers pounded in and turned out..
