Jube Emblem Before & Aft

I wish I had the right red paint though.
I used nail polish for the gold and the bottle was on sale for $4.49 -- regular $9. Opened up a tiny bottle of nail polish lacquer "thinner" in the drug store and it smelled just like plain old lacquer thinner so it will be weather proof.

I had to apply both red and gold quickly though cause it softens the plastikote chrome paint real quick -- and Plastikote does not have a hard surface unfortunately.

Still have a couple of misses to dab red on.
The chrome parts are where they should be but it all looks gold in the photo.

Is there an old Ford red paint crossover number so I can get some mixed up?

Real nice job.
One thing to consider - unless you are making a trailer queen - is no one will really look that close at it like you are with it sitting on the bench in excellent lighting conditions.
Even 5' away it will look fine.
On a worker, with a little mud and dust on it no one will ever notice any slight imperfections.

Thanks, and you're so right.
Bit of a frivolous pursuit for sure but I do like the fact that it is the original piece given a refurb rather than it being the $50. replacement.

No trailer queen intentions for sure. I can't imagine myself having a showpiece machine like the Jube in one of the videos with a "Do Not Touch" sign on it. Can't imagine saying, "Hey you kids, don't touch the tractor!"

Their true value consists in their utility.
Like you said, I've always said to friends, "If it looks good from 10 feet away, and is mechanically sound and kept from rusting any further, that's all that matters to me. :D

For things like that I use "Testors" enamel model paints, there's a very wide selection of colours available at most hobby shops.

Nice Job!!!

Thanks Jennifer!
I thought about my hand being steady because it kind of surprised me. There have been days when I regretted that being steady of hand was quickly passing me by, but then I primarily play drums and slide guitar so shaky hands doesn't really matter.
I guess it's like times when you feel that your immune system is a little under the weather but then it bounces back. :?

Thanks Mr. Cooke. "details on a worker" . . . I like that.

Greywolf & Lance . . .
I waited for weeks for the local hardware store to phone me and say that the Testor model paint in gold was in. I used it as a kid on plastic models. But the order never came in and it has the store puzzled, so I went searching elsewhere.

The new hobby/crafts shop had every Testor but GOLD even though they had a bigger bottle of gold for $20. So I went with what I had been thinking of all along and that was nail polish.

As I said I lucked out and it was on special for $4.50 so I bought silver too. I'd almost put money on it being better than Testors because nail polish is just good old straight lacquer and they've maybe tried to lessen the toxicity of Testers to make it "user safe", but compromised the integrity of the paint in the process.

Can you thin Testors with lacquer thinner Lance?
Oh, I just noticed you wrote 'enamel" so I guess not.

Cheers,
Terry

P.S.
I used a Premier 705, size 0 brush for the gold lettering and in the tight spaces for red.

After all corrective touches.
From 2.5' away and a better perspective where the fake chrome didn't take on the gold hue.
