Exhaust valve rotators?

Hello all. I'm rebuilding a 51 with adjustable lifters. I had ordered a TISCO kit with all the valves, springs, guides, keepers... anyway, new valve spring retainers not cupped out on exhaust valves for rotators, do I need them?

I kept them in both of my 8Ns (51 and 52) but most do not because there are few machinists that know how to set them up and will take the time to do so.

Thanks Dean. My old valves had the cupped spring retainer with no rotator, just had the wedge style keepers in them witch made them loose. Would like to know if I could put the rotators in with my old retainers... I think that they would help?

A 51 would have had OEM exhaust valve rotators originally.

Apparently someone discarded them during a previous rebuild.

Not uncommon.
