Anyway to test a 8N side mount distributor other then putting it in a motor. I got a backup dist at a swap meet. I dont want to take the ones out of my running Ns.
 
You could put put points, rotor and cap on it then rig up a coil, battery, wire and spark plug to test it. Just spin it by hand.
I don't know what the spec on bushing wear should be but that could be checked with a dial indicator or a guy can feel/see .005-.006 thou pretty easily.
 
Thanks guys, I did put new pts cond the cap and rotor looked good. Ill chuck it in my 1/2 drill and spin it. LOL
 
You don't need to spin it.
Turning it back and forth 1/4 turn would make it spark if you had the rotor pointed to the correct test plug wire.
