would someone please check the Atlanta craigslst farm and garden. 52 8N ford tractor with two bush hogs, (South Atlanta) amd tell me what you think The ad has been up quite awhile and he really pushing it today, Since all i have is about 5-6 acres to cut i am interested but dont know about the price,He has lowered it a &1000, Please tell me what you think. Thanks James
 
In the ad he says:

"I just recently had this 8n completely redone by a mechanic . . ."

First thing I would ask him would be, "what does completely 'redone' mean?"

Did he do an engine overhaul or a rebuild?

Ask him what the oil pressure is when it's hot.

Like UD said, since it is a side mount in decent shape,
maybe $2k for the tractor or a little more.
(implements....even if I can use them or sell them, at the start I always say 'keep em, don't need em, How much for just the tractor?' They can always come back in, later in the negotiations, if the tractor is priced fairly)
I buy-trade a lot of old tractors and read a lot of ads.
you can pick up clues about the deal and person from the writing in ads.
In this case the seller, YELLS and tells people what to do or not do in that one sentence.
pass....on to the next ad
 
I would keep my money in my pocket on this one.

Put a little more with it an get you a tractor with a live pto.
If you grew up farming with these old tractors and fully understand there ways, fine.

But if you are new to tractors, a tractor with a live pto and lift system will be so much easier to deal with (over riding clutch or not)

Much safer if you have a young person drive it.

You can thank me for the advice later.

Just drive one before you buy.
