new place larger yard. (about 2 acres) old farmstead and a lot of lawn is pretty rough for the small rider mower. considering something for behind the jube; any thoughts on this one? thanks
woods finish mower

check it out see what it looks like. 6' finish mower should fit nicely behind a jube with hp to spare.

Jube will power a 6' FM pretty easy.
But 5' will do which that one looks like.
Woods is a good brand. About $2K new.
I suggest you buy it. You might find a 6' if you keep looking and can always resell that one for what you paid for it.

(quoted from post at 23:04:30 06/23/14) Buy a mower with rear discharge. With side discharge you recut the previous pass/round and takes power.

If you are recutting the side discharge, you are going the wrong way around!

I run an older model Woods RM59 side discharge. I blow the grass to the outside of the cut. Never have a problem recutting.

I'd buy it and try it. My 8N will provide a decent cut when the grass gets away from me in 1st providing the blades are in good shape. If I keep up with it does a decent job in 2nd. 2nd is a little too fast because of all the trees in the yard but it makes it an interesting mow  !

If it is in good shape that is a fantastic buy. I would lift it up and make sure there was not any play in any of the spindles and then run it to make sure there is not any bearing growl. If it passes those test I would hand the seller the money load the mower and run before he raises the price.

Newer finish mowers have gauge wheels on the front as well as the back. This does a better job of keeping a consistent height on the blades. I use a 6-foot King Kutter mower on mine. It's a side-discharge, but I'm looking for a new one as mine is over 20-years old and is wearing out.

I run an RD-60 behind my 8N and like it very much. It"s not a mulching machine like our rider we use for trimming and will leave a bit more grass on the surface.

It actually runs harder than my 5 foot brush hog, but with all 4 gauge wheels it does a really nice job floating along behind the N. <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank">

You better buy that Woods mower, or I"m going to! I"ve been thinking about it for a few weeks, and he"s about 10-15 minutes from me. Actually, I"m thinking there"s something wrong with it. He cut the price $250, and still has it 3 weeks later?

WITH A REAR DISCHARGE there are no wrong turns. A lot of my mowing is back and forth, not round and round. Plus takes less power because you do not have to move the cut grass from one side of the mower to the other. Also doesn't wear the other two blades as much as grass is gone out the back.

Try it, you will like it....

I have what I think is the identical 6" woods mower that I use with my Jubilee here on the farm and it works great. You"ll need to attach those chains to control the position, and mine lost that horrible discharge chute long ago, but it is a good match for the Jubilee and cuts well.

you apparently either don't recall what you posted.. or did not read the 3 responders to your post.. If you use a side discharge, you turn away from the discharged material, not toward it. up and down makes no difference vs semi circular. both make and up and down motion.

Not a bad buy at the current price (I've been looking too), but I prefer the 4 wheel ones, just drop it and mow. I recently got a 60" Maschio, brand new at a farm consignment auction for $600. Never even had the PTO shaft attached. Couldn't pass it up. I've heard the Italians make a good mower.

W_B with limiter chains you just drop and mow too. And has 2 less spindles and wheels to maintain too.
