9n ring gear - my experience, no go a home

Got a ring gear from Ford-New Holland ($ - twice as much as other sources) and with the flywheel in freezer overnight and the gear in the oven at broil / 500 F for an hour (highest temp), I could not get the ring gear on. So off they go to a tractor shop. Incidentally the flywheel has a raised section on the circumference, slightly higher/wider than the section where the ring gear seats (a slot of sorts), over which the gear must pass to be seated. Just mentioning that since there appears to be some discussion of variations in the flywheel.
