didn't do much to the rims today but i soaked the spot welded mid seams with good rust enamel and tomorrow I'll body hammer the outer layer flat where rust had forced a gap.
I'm going to wrap a tight band of duct tape around those seams after the insides are all painted. Is that a good idea -- just for the sake of the tubes which developed flaky rust lines from sitting on that sharpish rusty seam?
Got my seat bracket repaired as well; the whole arm was missing on thr right side. A copper pipe is a press fit in the new collar to serve as a bushing, and there'll be a copper washer between collar and mounting frame. The original brass bushings had shoulders on them. No more seat wobble.
As Ultradog told me . . . the seat is of a ford 2000 and taking it apart the original Ford blue became obvious.
