In another chapter of no good blade goes unpunished saga ;)

mowed the yard inbetween day and night job, still had a little time so figured I'd now the ROW between me and the neighbor, its a couple ac or so, I generally knock it down quick with the 950 and a 5' mower, well, someone 'lost' a tpost in the grass... At least nothing got thrown, mower vibrated good at that point, glad there was only 10' more to go, get to shop lift it up... Dern.. Tip of blade bent down flat and twisted, with a good 5/16" divit 3" down the blade, it was a new blade, now toast.. Called around, tomorrow morn I can get one for 30$+ tax.. Grrrrrrr. At least it only ate 1 new blade not both, bet I only have 2-3 cuts on them too!

Ouch! I hate it when I hit anything that isn't supposed to be there.
My rotary tends to throw stuff at the back of the tractor.
Seems that T-post would be a bad thing all the way around!

It DID cut the post but ruined the blade, wouldn't feel safe heating and beating it straight, then the divoted area is so big the blade would be quite lighter than the other new one.

oh well, now I have a big chunk of steel in the scrap pile to play with.

on a positive note, my 3/4" gun took the nut off ( new nuts and bolts about a month ago ), with neverseize... And it worked, thought I might have to get the 1" gun out or the smoke wrench, so was pleasantly surprised... Guess that's the silver lining..

Hey soundguy,
Ever heard of a company by the name of Agri-Supply?
I get my blades from them when I'm not in a dire need and their prices are half of what I have to pay locally. For my 4' rotary, I can get 2 sets for what I'd pay for one set anywhere else.
If you haven't already done so, give 'em a look.

Your neighbor may be dropping a hint not to mow there, dont be surprised if next time ya dont spool up wire around blades. A T-post damage is easy fix a wad of wire brings everything to a stop. I have wound some on both tiller and hog. It is not a labor of love at that point and it aint a warning shot like a T-post.

I hear that. While brush hogging on my property one day everything stopped dead. I manage to disconnect the shaft and got the tractor in where I could work on it.

It turned out that somehow there was maybe 15 feet of eighth inch aircraft cable wrapped up in there. I haven't got a clue how it got there. I hadn't ever mowed that portion of my property.

Man what a PIA getting that cable out of there. It took a chisel in an air hammer and a lot of cussing and sweat but I finally got it out with no damage to tractor or mower.

My Dad was mowng a vacant construction lot once when he looked and here came a telephone pole. It seems he had found the guy wire cable. Nothing that a cutting torch wouldn't take care of though.
