Losing amps

49 8n 6v front mount. This tractors is starting on the first attempt and running well. I've noticed on more than a few occasions, too often to be coincidence, the engine fires just as the momentary start button is released. Is the button robbing the rest of the system of amps?

Not the button, but what's on the other end...the starter. Starter draws lots of amps leaving little for ignition.

Thus, the start just as you let go of the button.

Being 6V, especially, make sure all of your connection are bright and tight. Give the battery a good charge.

You need big #2 battery cables. If you can't remember the last time they were changed, now is a good time.

They can and will corrode beneath the jacket.

Replaced cables and brightened connections last Spring. Thanks for the proper description of what's occurring. Been curious about this for a while.

JC has nailed it.

Sounds like your battery cables are too small and/or at least one connection is poor.

I would use nothing smaller than 0 gage cables.
