8N sputter

Okay......so upon working on the 8N today, I had the #1 cylinder wire unpluged from the plug and forgot to pug it back in and started it up with it off. The tractor sounded better just running on three cylinders than four. When I replaced the plug wire it began sputtering again. Any thoughts?

I will take a shot. If the tractor ran better with the plug wire off then I would go in this order.

1. Wire not seated properly in dizzy cap. Easy check.
2. Fouled plug. AL437 or Champion H12 (I think it is sometimes called 512 on box)
3. Cracked Dizzy cap. Visual check on this to look, but someone with more knowledge may say it is not possible to see a cracked cap.
4. Bad plug wire. It does happen, and I would visit a local shop for a copper core plug wire. Or order it here or another reputable shop in North Carolina.

Some thoughts.

Okay! Thanks. The cap isn't cracked, but I will definitely check the wires and plugs.
