Alright, so my lift leaks down and doesn't seem to want to lift really strong. So I took the cover off the right side and when I lift the 3pt with a little weight on the back there is a drip from the lift cyl. I've got the new NAA piston o-ring and backup washer, but should I replace the safety valve too? I stuck my hand down to feel for fluid seeping by with the pto engaged, and I couldn't feel anything. I'm not sure however that I was really able to find the safety valve. I felt around in there for a few minutes but nothing. Also, is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? And should I replace the oil? I know I really should replace the oil but it doesn't look bad, and if I can save $50 and not do any harm, well... I have manuals coming so hopefully I can start to figure a little bit of this stuff out on my own. Thanks for the help.

the relief valve is what you should have been looking for. and it will not bypass fluid unless it has a pretty good load.
Hitch a load the tractor won't pickup or struggles to... that's where you might see the relief pass fluid. a piece of clear tube slipped over it is a safe and effective way to see what it passes... it is aout 'spark plug' sized.
with a heavy load on her.. that drip from the cyl PROBABLY will become a stream about the same volume as the pump.. HOPEFULLY...

ps.. other palces for leaks would be the standpipe.. and the top ad bottom covers where the pump and top cover bolt on.. and from cyl to top cover. look at the sides of the housing.. sometiems a leak spreays and runs down a housing. lastly.. don't try to detect hyd leaks with your skin.. it can lead to loss of limb or life.. and is not fun ( having fuel or oil injected under the skin )
Ok, thanks for the advice. I'm gonna try to find that relief valve again tomorrow before work and I'll get some rubber hose to check it with. Best I could tell I didn't see any other leaks when I checked it before, but it's hard to get your head in at such an angle that your able to see much. I didn't have a whole lot of weight on it, my wife sitting on the end of the boom pole
It does seem like it leaks down awful fast for the amount of fluid dripping down from the lift cyl tho.
