Thought this might be of interest - the old mill has been closed down for a few years now - the decline in building during the past economic drop was the final nail in the coffin - they decided to pull the old structure down as it was a fire and safety risk - not until it came down that you could see just how huge it was!

They mowed down a couple brick plants just down the road from me a few years ago.. One was once the larges brick plant in the WORLD (Its were I got my smokes while growing up remember cigaret machines they were all over the plant)... They had modernized the other plants they had and they produced more brick at 1/4 the size than the ones they mowed down... I was told they were gonna modernize them but the economy fudged up that deal.. I figgered the tax man was ream'n them rite bad so they mowed it down and hauled it off...

Every one in the neighborhood probably got their first job there... It was hard work but payed well.. I worked there a short while till I got a job cleaning a garage after hours... I had worked at the garage after school and week ends but needed more hours,,, after I quit the garage and went to the mill the garage offed me the same hours I got at the brick mill so went back to the garage... Most every one that worked at the garage once worked at the brick mill at one time are the other....

I never gave it much thought that the garage owner was doing me big favor get'n me out of that mill....
