OT: hay rack stringers

Hi all-

I found an elm tree whose top blew out this winter and I'm thinking
it would make good hay rack stringers. I should be able to get a 16'
log out of it, but I'm looking for opinions on what dimension to
saw. These will be going up for sale as I don't put up hay, so your
thoughts on this would be appreciated.

thanks,
pete

Most buyer, loggers, mills don't want any type Elm, because all have problem issues.
Hand hay rake historical factory preferred "straight grain, red or black Oak"
Make it into firewood.
If you do a search on "Red Elm" or disease "Elm Yellows" you will find that elm tree has that bad name, that will get me kicked off this site, but that it died from a virus, spread by "leaf hoppers" that kill the roots, but leave a preservative in the wood, therby making it the best firewood there is.
Its the only firewood that leaves "clinkers" instead of white ashes.
