Ok so I have a 8n tractor sitting around. The block had a crack in the block so bye bye motor. Is there any type of upgrade. And by upgrade I mean diesel. Has anyone ever got like a ford .... Tractor motor and put in a 8n: the trans; and rear end work on my broke one lol.

nything is possible with enough time & money, even jet turbine has been done, but if you have that kind of time & money & need a working tractor, go buy a more modern tractor.

Newguy, How bad is the block?? Depending on how bad it is, they CAN be fixed, either by welding or with a stich. The old boy that did my machine work on my 8N did a little stiching on the top deck, as there was a small crack in the top of the block. My block was also welded up on the side of the block years ago by the previous owner, and it"s holding up just fine. Of course it did warp the block and that required a Line Bore, but not that big of a deal. It runs VERY well now!!! Just wanted you to know the block can be fixed ifn it"s not too bad.

Some have 6 cyl flathead Ford V8 and some with
Chevy V6 and V8. All to much money and work. Any 9N
2N or 8N Lhead flat 4cyl will work. Buy a N parts
tractor with a decent motor and put it in, motors
come up on ebay all the time. A new motor cost as
much as a good running N.

Probably much more, I saw a new long block in a parts catalog and it was something like $3,800.
