PTO Shaft Removal

Can anyone please suggest how to remove the PTO Shaft from my 1952 8 N ?. I've pulled, hammered with bolt through spline and clamped with large vice grips....no will move!.Thanks, Dummydoug

o you have the bearing retainer on the rear loose to where you can rotate it? If yes, can the shaft come out a little before it stops movement?
 
It should come right out after removing the bolts,
unless! somewhere along the line it was over
stressed a good number of times and the interior
splines are in a bind or water in the sys you
have some rust lock. Rust is a rare long shot but
can happen if it set in a fence row for years with low or no oil. If bolts are all out I would go with
its in a stress bind.
 
depending on your answers to jmor's questions... you may be in for a top cover removal and possibly a trans to center split to be cutting a shaft and dropping the pump
 
You have a twisted PTO shaft ahead of the hydraulic pump. You can get in to cut the shaft after you remove the lift cover. I used a sawize-all. You have to wash all the filings out after ward.

ow did you work around the drive shaft with the sawsall?
