OT: CAFE Gas Cans

What to do with these modern CAFE/CARB compliant gas cans? I
thought I was just unlucky buying and destroying 2 of them last
summer but after a bit of reading realize they are the only kind
available. Unbelievable how difficult they are to use, never mind
the fuel that is spilt & wasted.

Anyone out there have better luck with these things or am I just
a total doofus with them. Would love to find an old style one or
a way to "improve" these.

Rip the guts out of the nozzle and drill a hole to insert a tubeless tire stem for a vent......then you are back to old style that works. BTDT

If your a duffus so aren"t I. JMOR is right I have done that to both of mine. There is no way I had the patience or the strength to stand there holding a five gal. can long enough to empty it even after gutting the nozle and the vent hole it takes a lot longer to empty than my 20 plus yr. old one. what is needed is the old style pour spout and the added vent hole.

Glad I have some of the old ones. I tried to put five gallons of gas with one of the new ones, and it took 20 minutes. They are worthless.

try your local farm and ranch store ie Atwoods, TSC, orcheilein don"t know the correct spelling, even noticed some in the local Wally World. I think I gave 10 bucks for 4 about a month ago

Take the top off an pour though a funnel with a screen in it.
If you need a vent, as I did, use a valve stem as JMOR mentioned.
I also bought some military gerry cans at a local farm auction.
Until they rust out I think I'm set.

Get one of these & dump it in.
You won't spill a drop.

I have some of these. Pretty pricy, but I am happy with them. Easy to use, vent well, pour fast and the no spill works.

Hey, to each his own.
My last eagle can lasted about 25 years before rusting on the inside (my fault and ethanol's)
I found ethanol free gas, and expect this one to last at least 20 ($3.25 per year). Made in USA too :)

"Hey, to each his own."

For sure! :)
That's sticker shock though!
No way a plastic can will last 20 years around here.
Those old gerry cans might though.
$5 at auction and we used them as seats all day! LOL
