OT feedback on muffler repair putty

I could hear a puffing sound coming from the area where the manifold attaches to the muffler on my Mercury - at first I thought it was the gasket but on closer inspection discovered a small hole on the flange - decided to give this a go;

Cleaned up the area, mixed the stuff up and using an icecream stick started putting the stuff on - first pushing it into the hole then putting a couple of layers on at a time - left it overnight and started the car this morning - rock solid. Not often you get a product that actually works well and thought I would pass this on - should easily repair small cracks/holes in tractor application on manifold, muffler etc.

I tried patch on a problem with a Dodge Dart slant six
manifold It didn't last very long. I think the expansion and
contraction as the exhaust system heats and cools makes it
fail fairly quickly. I hope you have better results.

had the #4 on my old9 leaking. patched it using
like product, thinking i would fix it later. been
15 yrs still holding

minor difference.

a leaking port has a gasket and manifold clamping it in place. it's not like a freestanding patch that can vibrate loose.

Most puckys, glues, adhesives, bonding agents, caulks and epoxies should be outlawed or at least the end users should require training in order to buy it.
If I was dictator of all the world this would be my first decree.

Awww man, you guys just ruined my day!!! :) We shall see - in some cases a benevolent dictator is better than a corrupt democracy!

just saying..sometimes this product works..mostly used it for insulating wires where grommet was gone its non conductive. hope he reports back on results

for adding a grommet to a place where one is needed or failed. I usually use a pice of fuel line and a couple zip ties.

cut line to be proud on each side. split it, slip on wires and thru hole.

zip tie each side so it cannot migrate.

can add rtv as needed aroud hole and in sleeve to reduce moisture migration thru.

even better than rtv is polyurethane based body and moulding glue / seam sealer / winshield trin adhesive. black and dries to a medium firm rubber. sticks to everything just about.. stays semi flexible. long lasting and chemical resistant.

Sounds like a pucky, glue, adhesive, bonding agent, caulk or epoxy. Are you properly trained?

No I'm not properly trained.
That's why I almost never use those products.
I did suggest using JB Weld to my wife once when she chipped a finger nail. I told her we could build it back up with JB and file it back down to match her other pretty nails.
She was smart enough to decline.
I'm not as smart as she is but I am smart enough to not use JB, puckys, etc.
