Can anyone please tell me where I could find the bar (in the circle) for my 8n, so that I can keep lift arms from rising so I can use internal pump to raise and lower plow.

(hope picture uploads, I'm kinda new to this lol)

Thanks alot!!

A chain will work just as well.

Cant speak for anyone but me......but I put the three point all the
way down......and chain it there...it has always served me well. The
less the lift can move the better.....sends the lifting force here you
want it sooner...I have two chains of equal length and a heavy quick
link the size of the chain......let me know how that works out for
you.

I would think your chances of finding one of those
bars is fairly slim. I live near Gettysburg PA. I
have and use one of those bars on one of my 8Ns. If
you are anywhere near me I would be glad to have you
over and you can take measurements to have one made.
It should be a simple welding job.

I had a ferguson to-30 that used one of those bars. I was sure it was home made. now i'm thinking maybe it was not.

Somewhere I saw a while ago where someone rigged up a single action cylinder that was compressed by raising the 3pth arms. That cylinder was filled with oil so that it raised the snow plow cylinder when compressed. I can't remember how it was done, I thought it was a neat idea. You just had 2 same size cylinders with a single hose between them. When you lowered the arms, the weight of the plow would push the oil to the 3pt cylinder.

Nice site and great pictures, Howard!!

Do you happen to have any pictures on how you chain the arms down?

Thanks alot!!

I have updated the website to show how I chain down the 3 point hitch to provide hydraulic pressure for the blade (http://www.moosebird.net/ford_8n/SauderSnowPlow/index.html).

Hope this helps!,
