Pertronix, holes don't line up

I knew I would probably regret it, but I wanted to see for myself about the Pertronix EI vs points.

I got the 1244A Pertronix from this site.

I just don't see how the holes line up to mount it, see pic.

Also, I evidently have a choice whether to use the "clockwise" or "counter clockwise" screw hole, from checking here it looks like my '50 sidemount 'N is counter clockwise.

Been too long since I put an EI on, but I would consider calling the manufacturer. I understand they have a decent customer service department. Otherwise, someone may come along that know/remembers.

And your distributor rotation is counter clockwise.

Just put screw in CC hole & into hole where condenser was. Then only one of the unmarked holes will line up with the lower point mount hole. That is it

(quoted from post at 13:19:07 04/17/14) Wonder how it will work with your dist cap?
elp me out here. Why would that make any difference on/impact the cap?

I was referring to the dirty condition of the cap and the likely hood of it jumping between posts. Concern would be there with points as well. I like to keep my dist caps clean. Just me!

ot it.

Thanks for your help guys, started right up, sounds great. Of course it was running great before.

They should have just a little slip of paper with what JMOR said, "CC hole where the condenser was". Don't know how I missed that.

I got 2 EI's set'n on my desk to go in my Farmalls sometime in the next few days.... Opened up the box's and One had already been installed

I got'em at advance auto they will take anything back NO QUESTIONS ASKED...

For some reason, its common for sellers of 12v conv and EI kits to have some of the worst imaginable documentation, one would expect an 'electrical' kit to have some GOOD clear and concise directions.... But I ain't seen it yet.

Couple of dumb questions..Did you have the points at oprn position before removing them and putting in the EI? How much did u have to change the timing?,,Just curious...Son just put EI in 65 Mustang (6 cyl 200)--didn't think about whether or not points needed to be open...Had to change timing a good bit....

Nutter good reason to go EI... Anytime you fiddle with the points you change ignition timing.. Points are only at there best when first installed from there its all downhill...

Points are like 4-play some enjoy it over riding it...... Till I run out of stuff to do I don't care to play with it to get it warmed up...
