8N serial numbers

Hi I am haveing trouble figgering out what year my 8N was made. I have looked at the left side of the engine block, all I see are a 8N-B in raised letters and a small plate with # 328 1 stamped on it. What am I overlooking?

The serial number would be stamped in, not raised.
Are you looking at this flat spot?

There were industrial engines and replacement engines also,
so one of those may be a possibility.

Generally if they have a plate on the engine it is an industrial engine. Check on the right side of the block just behind the governor and see if it has a bolt on plate where a fuel pump could be mounted.
