frozen brake

First let me say how much I like the help from this site! My latest project is a 1951 8N that hasn't run in a few (?) years. So far (from lessons learned here) I did a dry compression check, then wet w/MMO, then loosened a stuck valve, primed oil pump, re-did wiring, ran starter until oil pressure came up, a small squirt of starter fluid (no gas tank on it), and, after getting it to fire added my temporary tank & it started & ran! The main problem was a key switch replaced w/a faulty light switch!
Now on to the next problem - the right brake pedal is frozen SOLID. I have squirted w/PBblaster a couple times. What do I check first? Pull the hub & explore??
As always, any help appreciated.

Bruce,
Sorry, but I'm not following your answer. You say no but then seem to agree??? My question might be more - Is the problem more likely in the brake drum or frozen where the other end of the rod turns in the rear end housing? I don't want to pull the drum if it's not necessary, but the pedal will not move at all. I have redone several 8N brakes & am somewhat familiar in there.
Thanks, just wish I understood better.

he said no dont pull the hub, the problem is more than likely inside the brake drum, not in the axle. So take off the drum and have a look.

besides, the drum would have to come off to get the hub off.

I'm suggesting that the most likely cause is that the shoes are frozen to the drum. I'd pull the drum instead of the hub to find out.

Are you using the PB Blaster on the end of the rod that goes into the differential housing? There is a slight chance it's frozen there. Spray it & bang on the rod a few times. Let it sit a while.

But the problem is most likely inside the drum.

Thanks again, My Bad! I meant the drum, but, as usual, mis-spoke! I doused both ends a couple times yesterday & haven't gotten back to it yet today. The wheel turns okay, but the pedal sure won't budge up or down.
