01 series in diesel

Have not seen many of these in diesel.

I have an 861 Diesel and I have parted out 3 or 4 other 801 Diesels that had locked up engines. They're pretty common around here.

Pretty common here too, though not as common as a gasser.
I prefer the 3 cyl Fords but if I was to get a Hundred an 861D would be my choice.

I don't think it has a live PTO. Fellow has it away from home being serviced. Going to check numbers when he gets it back.

And, he is asking $3,500. Seems a little steep to me.

If it's an 841 or 851 it does not have live PTO- only the 861 has it. The SOS tractors (871 & 881) have Independent PTO.

I don't keep as close an eye on things as you, UD, but I know of only two engines plus my 961 in our area. If asked, I would have said they are pretty uncommon... I've never seen one at auction and have never seen one at a dealership.

My pal Ken has an 841D. Also has a 641D which I would at least call uncommon.
He sold his 961D and his 2000D light industrial and parted out an 1811D and a 971D.
We looked at a couple of others but they were too high for him.
He does go after those diesels though. Has a 3600, 4600, 4000 and 4400 - all diesels. Trys to beat me out of my 3000D about every other week.
He loved your 961D. When I showed him the photos you posted recently he about cried cause he sold his.

You Ken should come up for a visit! I'll provide beer and a grill.

Still working out the kinks on the 961D. Had a ding in the fan shroud that needed straightening. Fan would bang on it only at a particular RPM. And some damage to the genny pully that is eating the belt. I think there's a burr in there that I can file out. Then my new sending unit leaks around the o-ring and even though the proofmeter worked when hooked up to a drill, I'm still not getting it to work when the engine is running. So...got a few projects to work on yet.

I'll get some good photos here in the next few days.
