loosening a diesel

Forum Members,
Looking at a diesel powered tracked tractor. Have not had the chance to see if it "stuck" yet and wondered if it is possible to release the pistons without removing the head? Any and all thoughts welcome.

Mr. T. Minnesota A diesel is not as bad to stick and lock up as a gas burner is unless the exhaust has been left uncovered and rained in.Try to bar the engine over to see if it is free before using the starter. You would have to pull the injectors to add ATF or Marvel oil to the cylinders.
