I was backing my tractor up and the lift with a box blade on it just dropped. When I work the lift lever it barely moves the implement but won't lift it. What's going on?

pop a side cover off with tractor in neutral, and lift lever up and pto engaged .. so it would be lifting if it could.

look in thru th inspection cover hole and look for massive leaks. if none. move the lift lever and see if it moves the rod and control valve.. if not.. help it and see what happens. might be a piece of git hanging it.

otherwise.. I suspect a massive leak. ( well.. as massive as you can get with a 2.85gpm pump at rated rpm anyway.. )

I took the inspection plate off and lifted the lever. There is no leaking from the cylinder above. I replaced the lift piston and seals about a month ago. I stuck my hand down in the oil and could easily move the plunger. I thought I did a pretty good job cleaning out the pot before I put oil back in it, last month. Could I have dislodged some goo and it got sucked up into the cylinder intake hole? I tried to replace the pressure relief valve when I had the top off, but it seems to be cross threaded or something because I could only move it a 1/4 turn? the pump is chucking quietly, and there are no bubbles coming from the pressure relief valve. Pump bad?

nothing pushing out relief. pto is turning, no oil from the top?

sounds like intake is not opening...

When I lift the lever the control rod moves forward and it appears to be pushing the plunger all the way in.

The intake, I assume is in the pump? Are there gaskets in the pump that could just blow out?
When the draft lever, under the seat is up, the plunger lever in the access hole will hardly move the plunger. It almost seems it is stuck. In the down position the lever moves the plunger all the way forward and back freely? If it's linkage, why would it just drop the implement all of the sudden? Not saying it is the linkage, I don't know.

go back and re-read my post.

You said you could move the linkage back and forth and no oil up top and no oil out hte relief.

that means no oil is on t he high pressure out side of the pump. thus i'd be looking IN the pump at the intake

I bought this tractor about 6 months ago, so I,m not real familiar with it, mechanically. Do I drop the pump and clean it or should the valves be replaced?

you have to pull the pto shaft to drop the pump.

if she's not pumping and the control rod is moving fully. then not much left to do but drop her

and yes.. there are gaskets in the pump to answer your question.
