Latest project I am striping paint from a pair of
Hat Box rims. I know at one time I have read post
about9 and 2Ns had galvanized or cadmium plated rims and I painted a
2N set of rims silver on the outside and gray
inside which made a nice contrast. I have never found any with surviving galvo or cadmium plate on any rims. So did 8Ns have plated rims also? I also found on this 8N on the check
chains instead of cotter pins holding the clevis
pins they had what looked like someone had made
cotter pin replacements that worked like a detent or hair pin out of safety pins they
seem to work fine, but I have never seen these
type of pins used anywhere before.
