leveling box assembly

Forum Members,
Have been trying to make an 8n right hand leveling box assembly move??? Disassembled it this afternoon and could turn the crank but could not get it to turn in the lower section. It simply would not move, must have stripped threads or something on that order. Anyone have a cure or used working leveling box assembly for sale. Again, it is on the right hand side. Any and all thoughts welcome.

If it won't move sounds like it is froze up not stripped. Use some penetrating oil and work it back and fourth. Should be able to get it to move once you apply enough force. If you break it o'well, it wasn't working any way. If you do find the shaft or fork is broken you can buy either one here on this site. If you need both, best to just buy a whole new unit. Just a little cheaper buying the whole thing new. PS: they have a set shipping rate here. So buy anything else you need at the same time.

I take it the shaft is frozen in the fork. Squirt liberally with WD-40 or equivalent between the shaft and fork. Clamp the shaft in a vice. Get the cutting torch out and heat up (do not cut) the fork in the area where the threads are located. Squirt some more lubricant in the thread area. Then get out a pipe wrench and turn the fork. If it won't move, heat up again and try again. Once it starts to loosen, work back and forth and it will loosen. Squirt some more. Then screw off and grease up good. The threads are probably okay, or good enough, and it just rusted up from water and no use.

throw it in yer parts washer for a couple days.. let the solvent-oil seep in there and work a bit

On mine the hand crank turned but not the threaded end, it acted like it wanted to turn at times, then lock up on others. I drove out the pin and took the hand crack lever off, knocked out the freeze plug and found the pinion gear stripped. The other gear on the threaded shaft looked perfect so I just replaced the little pinion gear. I cleaned and lubed everything up and it works perfect.
