Interstate Batteries

I know the general consensus on here is that Dekka batteries are the better choice for 6-volt, but has anyone used a 6 volt Interstate Battery? I can get the Dekka, but I would rather go to a closer Interstate battery center due to time constraints.

You are so right, I can"t believe that price! I used to buy my 6V"s at AutoZone or TSC as they were the only local choices here in E FL. AutoZone no longer will stock them and TSC is now at about $90. Called the local golf cart battery folks and asked if they could get them, they replied we have them in stock. $55 and they last at least as well as the other two sources.

I saw that too, and I wonder if that is just the website price and not the real one a distributor would charge. If it is that price, I will go to the Batteries + and get the Dekka for $74.

I would pay a premium (+-$10) for the convenience of not having to go to Batteries + on the other side of town. I know that Interstate makes (or sell as I don't know if they actually make their own) good 12v types, but 6v is a different dinosaur. Just wondered if anyone had experience with them.

How much would it cost to change the system over to
12 volts and go with an alternator.

Just thinking out side the box here!

Truth be told, I like the 6v system for what I do with the tractor. And I like the originality concept. I am a historian by trade so I look at the past with a certain amount fondness.

I called the local interstate shop and they wanted $130+ for their battery. I went across town for the Dekka.

Thanks.
