ORC for PTO Explained (YouTube)

that is a good video for those unacquainted with ORCs. Was happy to see the one he had is one I also have, though I have never gotten around to using it yet. Pushes on without the push pin, which the ORC I am currently using has. Didn't expect it to last 10 years, which is why I got the other one as a spare. Wondering how much of a hassle it will be removing the pin, though I do have the punch.

He explains it well but there is one more benefit to an ORC.

If you don't use one and you want to stop to shift into reverse or any other gear, you have to wait for your mower shaft to spin down and stop or you'll be grinding gears.

With the ORC on there, you can shift while the mower shaft is still spinning. Of course your tractor must be stopped.

I just installed a stump jumper on my Woods M5 and the additional weight of that stump jumper increased that spin down time a whole lot more.
