9n starter drive

Hi Fellas. My 1940 9n is having starter drive issues. I understand that some 12v converted units [mine is] are kicking the heck outta the drive. I also understand that there is an upgrade drive with a rubber cushion inside? Can someone please fill me in on this and where to acquire said drive? Or any other suggestion?
Regards, Frank

Thank you Royce for the super fast reply.
Any comment on this offering that I ran across?

Part No : 5211350C. Alt. Part # Brand 52-11350C-PD This is the old style starter dive. We do not sell this part anymore. Instead you will receive new style starter drive. (52-11350C-PD)The other item is that as a positive drive starter drive, if the customer turns the drive out by hand, it will stay until the tractor starts. It requires the speed of the turning ring gear to release and go back . This makes it hard to install, but can be done. The other option is to take the drive and hold it against a bench wire brush until it turns fast enough to release.Ford. Tractors: 2N,8N,9N,.. Standard Pack: 1 Weight: 1.37 lbs

I don't know the part numbers they are referencing off the top of
my head, but the condition they are talking about where the drive
gets turned out and then won't turn back in is common.
As they said, it will go back when the engine starts. Wire wheel maybe.
Best bet is to resist the urge to twist it out before you install it.
I hope you have better luck resisting than I did!

(quoted from post at 04:57:46 02/12/14) New style starter drive will be one of the best
things you ever do to the old N.....

Thanks Tom, why didn't someone tell me this before...? :)
Got one ordered. Got a crap load of snow last nite with more on the way. It's been an easy year but here we go I guess ...

Me also - if I never see another snowflake it will be just fine with me ... Our latest warning never materialized and now there is no more warning.
Old faithful, my 9n, fired today and did the job, the brand new starter drive will be here soon, it's all good....
