1952 Ford 8N,I am replacing the lower left arm support shaft can find the part but can't find the Castlelated nut and the nut that holds the swivel ball on the shaft.The swivel ball is shot. Can the weld on lift arm piece be used on the lower shaft support?
 
if the weld on arm end works for the implement end.. it will work for the support end. that or you can get another arm..e tc.

on the castle nt. in an emergency.. you can always make one.

i've made castle nuts for tie rod ends plety of times. just takes a vice and a say blade or die grinder / cutoff wheel to notch a nut.. etc.

I'd do that before holding up a project too long if I needed the tractor.
 
Are you looking for the castle nuts using the old Ford part number? Any auto parts/hardware store should have them. You just need the correct thread diameter and pitch such as 7/16"-20 or 1/2"-20.
 
Inner castle nut... 3/4"-16 TPI (NF) (NH #351129S) (DEERE #J13155)

Outer nut = 5/8", 18 TPI (NF) (NH #55757S7) (DEERE #14H950)

Should be pretty common Fastenal, or even hardware store stuff, if the local NH or DEERE dealer don't have 'em!
 
Never even considered doing that. Good tip. I always save good parts like castle nuts, tie rod boots "etc". Learned a long time ago my tool box needed a junk drawer.

Whut he said and to add I don't think the original (inner) was 3/4" but the replacements are check the new pin before you tear into it... The outer is still 5/8....
 
deffinately. I have coffee cans full of that kind of stuff. just never know when you will need one. even if it is a temp fix till a new part arrives.
