Update on 8N quitting while brush hogging

A couple of weeks ago I posted about my 52 8N quitting while brush hogging. It has been so wet, I have not been able to do much of anything with the tractor until yesterday. Checked the distributor and found the point gap had closed up to about .015. I guess the rubbing block had worn some. Cleaned and set points to .025 and it seems to be doing well. Will know more when it gets dry enough to get back on the ground with the hog.
Thanks, Richard in NW SC

How does it run when set at .025? The normal setting is in fact .015 so you may have dirty plugs and or a week spark...something going south anyway, better look things over.

52 should be a side mount with a point gap of .025.

Front mount point gap is .015.

0.015 is correct only for the front mount distributor. The side mount came out in April or May of 1950 and the correct point gap for the side mount is in fact 0.025
