crown on 2-n

I have "47 2-n that I bought several years ago. One thing puzzles me that I don"t remember seeing on any other tractor. On the front of each of the outer front axles between the 2"nd hole in from the spindle and the yoke for the radius rod there is a raised crown, very visible, that is part of the casting. In that it is raised it is very easy to see. Has anyone seen any of these or have I not looked at many other axles? Any ideas what it represents?

I have a '46 and '47 with the crown cast on them. There is a raised "A" on it.It may be a revised axle??? production line designator?? I have a '43, '44 ' and '45 that are smooth there.
