238 years and they're still looking for a few good men! LOL
Happy Veterans day to you too from (obviously) a Navy guy. :)

We were reminded periodically by Navy types that we were a Department of the Navy....

But the Navy needed us more than MOST!! And they got better food than we did
:)

Had forgotten all about the USMC birthday until one of my sons (ex Marine) posted it on FB. Happy Birthday Marines!! And Happy Veteran's Day tomorrow.

This Marine survived Beaufort SC (Abandoned runway on Paris Island and air station)(Rattle Snakes, swamps, WAMS, grunts) as a aviation radio repairman 57-60. Of course the Navy trained me at Sugar Island SF CA. LOL
Next time I will try to remember to bring my ohm meter.

PS When 4 brothers went to serve in WWII, our 39 Ford Ferguson and me at 10, Kept the farm up. (figured out on my own, how to unstick the control valve, locked transmission, chipped pinion, etc.)
Salute to all USMC, Veterans, Farmers and housewives and kids (that fed the world)

Charles Krammin SW MI

Thank you for your service Charles! (all the rest of you too!)
Both of my Grandfathers served in the Army.
My father was drafted into the Army in WWII, then served
four years in the USAF as an aircraft mechanic.
Two of my uncles served in the Navy.
My brother was Army, his wife a Marine.
Three of my nephews are currently serving in the USMC and
a fourth is aspiring to do so. He is 16.

The good-hearted ribbing/rivalry between the branches is a
normal part of life around here, and meant to be just that.
All of the services are truly appreciated.

Folks I was too young to serve in any of the Wars or conflicts (born in 1965) but have grandfathers and other family members that have served way back since WWI so I have great respect for them as well as all of you. My father-in-law who passed away two years ago at the age of 90 was a Technical Sergeant in the US Marines who made it a 25 plus year career. He refused promotions because he said "he couldn't deal with the bureaucratic BS". He lived for the Marines.
He met his wife while on leave and accompanying his future wife's deceased brothers body home.

I as well as I am sure everyone else, am gratefully indebted to all of you that served and for all that you did and went through and for some still going through.

It is because of you you that we have the freedom and the rights that we have and enjoy the simple things such the freedom of expression as this site allows us to do.

I take my hat off - Thank You

01BIRDDOG,
No sir. I carried the M9 Beretta as a SMAW gunner,
demolitions, and a small-boat coxswain.

That M45 MEUSOC is captivating to say the least!
My hats off to Force Recon who well deserve such a beautiful piece.

The closest thing that I have is the all-steel .45 Combat Commander 1911.
It was given to me from my brother-in-law's dad.
It is rather special to me since he gave it to me on his
deathbed.
He was one of the "Chosin Few" who served in Korea.
