You make the call!

Just got wheels and spindles from a great guy out in Nebraska.....to do a Hi Crop conversion on my 48 8n.....
Don't need one......but I have always wanted one.....so.....the games begin......here is the deal.......there are some rotted out 13.6 X 38s..........might look too big ........my choices......11.2 X 38........ Or 12.4 x 38s.......Whatcha Think?????

(quoted from post at 14:12:30 11/09/13) Bet it will be the fastest 8N in the county lol

Especially backing up  . I'd want at least 50 yards open behind me. Are you going to use it, or just playing? A step down would be good to keep your speed down and keep some power. I'll ride anything with wheels, but with regular 8N gears and that size tires, it could get squirrelly pretty quick.

Yes, it depends on the width of the rim. If the rim is 10 inches wide, a 12.4x38 will fit nicely. If the rims are 11 inches wide, then go with the 13.6x38.

The 12.4 more or less replaced the old 11.2, which replaced the original 10.0.

Yes, you can squeeze a 13.6 onto the 10 inch rim, but it will have a really odd look to it. You can also put a 12.4 on an 11 inch rim, but again, it will look really odd.

That be an excellent point....I will have to take a look at some pictures of restored ones and see how they tackle that one

go big!

nice cat too.

can use block spacers from rectangle tube or c channel or ibeam for fenders.

I might have a set off 6000 fenders, Which are basically early hundred series fenders with a bracket underneath if you are interested

Yeah......I kinda answered my own question as soon as I thought of the rim size.....Damn....I don't even wanna know what 13.6s will cost!!......tell me more bout the 6000 fenders...or brackets

(quoted from post at 03:12:23 11/10/13) Take a look at this pic guys......the tires are not too much wider that the rim....A pretty nice Hi Crop

Zackly what I was think'n,,, "what idiot would put fat arse tires on a high crop"

Personal preference, but I like the skinny tires on tall tractors.
I have the wider tires on the shorter utilities.
Your tractor, your money. :)

I used some old tube-style loader rear brackets to move my fenders
up and in to clear multiple sets of chains on my snow tractor.

Here is a photo of what they look like on the 6000. I took the extention pieces off and used the fenders on a hundred series tractor. I did get a nice pair of monkey grips on those fenders to use on one of my row crops.
I took a quick look in the barn yesterday and didn't see the extentions. They might have hit the last scrap pile that when to the scrap yard but will check for sure again this week.
My wife has been after me to clean up my tractor graveyard.
