The seller was kind enough to accept $800
front tires very good condition rear fair to poor drives and shifts good no smoke....I was suprised to see the Sherman ??? left side shifter he knew it was a high low possible but said he could never get it engaged....any ideas or should i just leave it alone ? Thanks.

Never get it to engage well that does not make sense unless it does not move. It has to engage at least in either the high or the standard for the tractor to be able to drive. If in the high side the tractor is pretty much useless for much of any thing since the PTO will spin to fast to run a machine and the ground speeds to fast for much.

Got a picture of the Sherman handle?
Does it move at all or just stuck in one position?
If it's a step-up and stuck, my guess is that its stuck in "normal"
since that's where it would have been used most of the time.
I don't think it would hurt anything (other than pride) left
where it is in that case. Might work itself free with use if its
been setting for a while.
Maybe John Smith will chime in with some better information.
$800 for a running 2N is a good deal. Great tractors.

I picked up an 8N with a stuck Sherman, I worked that shifter every time I walked by, and after two weeks it was free, H-N-L.
