Posted a few days ago that had to get a couple of tractors out of my enclosed trailer were they had been stored for over 7 months. The early 9n started right up but I had a lot harder time getting my LCG to start and when it did wanted to flood so I knew the float was stuck. Managed to get it out and up the shop door. Started pulling the carb and the gas would not shut off. Finally pulled the valve and this is what it looked like inside. Hole all the way thru were the valve stem is. No pieces inside just look like something ate a hole right thru it and you can touch it and it just crumbles. Wonder how long the new one I put on will last?

I haven"t seen it on a cutoff valve, but I have had that type problem on a few of the fuel pumps from my Farmall F-12"s and F-14s. Something about the metal they are made of I believe.

If you live in an area that gets CCCCOOOOLLLLDDD, some water probably settled down in that area, then it froze, popping the hole in the body of the valve.

Used to see that a lot in the fuel filter/heater unit they used on the 89's 6.2 diesels... there was a channel through the body of the filter base down to the water drain valve. Folks didn't drain 'em often enough, and they'd freeze and break open much like your sediment bowl .

hard to say.

could be waTER FROST DAMAGE LIKE BOB SAID.

COULD BE ETHANOL ATTACKING THE CRAPPY ZINC ALLOY ( darn caps ).. that chine sends us these days.

I'm leaning toward the fuel we get today. Didn't hardly get below freezing where I'm at last year. Think I'm going to start putting non ethanol fuel in the tractors I don't run very often. Tired of fighting the problems it causes. Thought you were yelling at me there for minute lol

sorry. I don't have a conventional PC anymore. I have a tablet and pad and netbook.

my 90-120wpm typing skills i had 20 ys ago went to pot with these micro kb's and touch screens, or thumbing it on an old cellphone.

:)

i miss a real 101-104 key kb :)

no prob. i didn't feel picked on.

I saw the upper case text and was frankly too tired to go back and fix it.. so I expected 'incoming' for it. :)
