Ford 9N hyraulic problem

My hydraulic system was working fine before I took it apart to clean it. After I put it back in it still works but! The control lever is springy. The lever is about 2to3 inches above the lowered position. When I push down on the lever to lower the arms the lever will spring back up to 2 or 3 inches. And the arms will automatically come back up.

pring force is pushing against the eccentric shaft that has touch control lever on it, so you need to have a working friction disk to hold it in place that you put it.

ut of the 11 valves in the pump, how did you select the 4 to clean? Just curious.

I clean the 2 on each side of the pump. I had watched a DVD on Hydraulic Repair for Ford and Ferguson Tractor and that's what it showed
 
tp. put the nut on and the sleeve of the quadrent handle on with a lil neverseize. just none on the friction surface. do put a lil inthe keyway.

makes it easier for the next guy to take it off.

Thanks for telling me I had to heat the handle up too get it off.
I would like to thank everybody for their input. It sure makes a difference when you have places like this to get help. When I get the parts in and get it back together I' ll let everybody how it worked.
 
many break coming off. so always use the never sieze. next fool will be glad. next fool might be you. It's been me before. :)

always good to fix it right so when you go back in it's not double trouble
 
I was asking because u said it worked fine before the cleaning---I just can"t see your issue being the friction disc---not sure what it is but I just don"t think it is a friction disc thing.Anxious to know what u eventually determine the problem to be..

I did notice that the disc was some what damaged when I took the top cover off the first time. But I never gave it any thought.
I just hope that's all it is. I took the side covers off to see if their was any leaks, but I didn't see any. I also took the top cover off to check it out didn't see anything. As soon as I get the friction disc and get it on and checked out I will let you know if it solved the problem or not. I did notice that their was no spring behind the nut that holds the lever on.

The friction disc that was on the tractor was shot and their was no spring either. I started putting the top cover back on. After getting it back on I started to put the friction disc on and put one disc on and their was to much clearance that I had to put a second disc on. After I got it tighten down it was working fine. I probably could have used a big washer and just one friction disc.
Again I would like to thank everybody for their help and kind advice
