What is difference in dog bones 9N526 (9N, 2n, 8N, NAA) and the NCA526A (hundreds)? Length? Strength? Diameter? (If length, how much?)

Are all 2 1/2 inch ram pistons, 9N539B, NAA530B (apparently an early & late with ring in different location?) interchangeable? On any of the three, is depth of dog bone seat below skirt different from the others?

I bought a bunch of parts one time and there was several 9N and 8N parts in with it. I do know the lift cylinder it"s self was more reinforced on the 8N than the cylinder for the 9N. The piston crowns were different from each other but from my measurements the rings were in the same locations and the depth where the dog bone goes was the same between them. The dog bones were different in diameter but the length appeared to be the same. If I can find where I put the parts I will post some pics.

Dog bone length and diameter of the ball ends is all the same. Only the thickness of the center shaft differs.
hanks, John. I had high hope that you might see & respond. There is a fellow with a lift problem that I have been trying to help, but so far, no success. Dog bone length difference might have explained, but I didn't think much chance that the pistons would be different in that regard. I want him to disconnect the check chains & observe operation, but so far, no trial. If you have any ideas beyond me, & feel inclined, please give him advice.
