I am getting ready to market my '49 8N, which is pretty well worn out and has been taking up space in the barn. I know the engine is pretty well gone, but wanted to find out just how bad before I let'er go, so someone who wants a project wouldn't get stuck. Engine is free, but when I started to test how bad, I got ZERO compression on the cylinder #4, so dumped a bunch of ATF in and am letting her set - figure to remove valve covers and check'em out next - more later. Symptoms before parking were hard starting, low hot oil pressure, etc., and I do not have the $$$$ to do a complete engine rebuild. I did run the snot out of it for about 5 years, and it wasn't in real good shape when I bought it.

Sell it running, it will make you a little more money and help the next guy on a rebuild. Running it till it shells a rod or burns the crank up would be a plus for seller and buyer.

Obviously - Before I shedded it the only way I could start it was to roll it down the hill. That's why I want to get compression data to confirm a necessary rebuild. I may decide just to dump it for the worth of the tires, which are in pretty good shape.
