Sounds like UD and I paint them about the same way.

I did take off most of the old paint. Had to because it was flaking.

The new paint would just flake off with the old if painted over.

The pressure washer takes off a lot of it, but not all.

As far as parts, I take off everything I don't want painted red.
Wiring, starter radiator, distributor, belts, hoses etc.

Then I tape the holes shut if paint would hurt them.

I also remove the air breather, battery box, oil filter, etc so I can
paint behind and under them. I unhooked the 3pt links at the
lift arms so I could lay them down and paint the insides easily.

Have to be careful putting it all back so you don't scratch the new paint.

As far as the spark plugs, I have an old set that came in a parts
tractor I bought. I saved them and stick them in the head to paint.

Can't mix 'em up, they're all red! LOL

I've seen a lot of tractors that had everything painted.

Hoses, belts even the battery on a few.
As a buyer I walk away from them and I suspect many
others would too, so it pays to do at least decent job.
