I am replacing my axle shaft because the axle nut stripped off the threads. I got the new axle already and had the new bearing pressed onto it. I went to put it in and the axle wont slip into...whatever it is going into inside the housing :? I can feel the splines line up but when I try to push it in it wont go more than a fraction of an inch then it is hard to pull back out! I put the old one back in and it slides right in. Is it normal for a new axle to fit that tight? If so the only way to get it in would be to put a block of wood on the end and pound it in but that doesn't seem right!
