Was runnin ok last acre of grass cutting until the end then began runnin ruff. Tried to remove a spark plug wire and got bit. Bought new wires.Started but no change.Checked elec to coil--ok.Removed distributor, checked pts--ok.Checked continuity from switch through distr--ok. Cranks, but 'huffs' and backfires. Got it to run once, but weak.
F R U S T R A T I N G!!! I'm certain I got the distr on the 'right way'. What happens if it's on 180 wrong?

Impossible to put back together 180 off unless you broke something.

Check for spark. Should jump a 1/4" gap and be blue white - not yellow. Check firing order 1,2,4,3.

Check for fuel flow thru the bottom of the carb. Look for dirt or water.

It's either fuel or ignition. Figure out which it is and it will make the fix easier.

I agree with HCooke, figure out if you have a spark issue or fuel.
When you replaced the wires, did you get wire core ones?
If you didn't, you may have introduced even more problems.
Echoing make sure you have the wires 1-2-4-3 CCW from the front.
#1 cylinder being closest to the radiator.
